Foil Blister Packaging

A moulded plastic or aluminium base is heat sealed to printed foil.

What it is

Foil blister sealing is a modern packaging solution that is mostly used for pharmaceutical product packaging due to the inherent nature and benefits of this packaging type.

How it works

Foil blister sealing, quite simply, consists of a moulded plastic base sealed with an aluminium foil film. The moulded plastic can be transparent or opaque depending on the visibility or light protection requirements.

To remove the product from it's packaging, pressure is applied to the moulded plastic component which forces the product to break the foil seal allowing it to be removed completely from the pack.

Advantages

The primary advantages of this packaging method are twofold. Firstly foil blister sealing provides an excellent preservation seal ensuring maximum shelf life and protection from the environment. Secondly the packaging affords tamper evidence, protecting consumers from faulty, expired or interfered with product.

Each individually measured dose is separated so there is no contact, rubbing or damage to the surface of the doses which results in cleaner, unaltered product presentation.

The foil can be printed on with product logos and information and the contents can be made visible to the consumer with transparent plastic. Blister sealed products are packaged into a printed unit carton which creates greater shelf impact in pharmacies and supermarkets.
